Variable: Crutches assist with walking after an acl reconstruction because the quad muscles are usually inhibited and not functioning after knee surgery. As the quad muscles return to function, you should be able to wean off the crutches. Some patients are using the crutches 2 months after surgery. Some of my patients with all-inside acl reconstructions are off crutches within days. It depends!

See your surgeon: I recommend my patients stay on crutches 2 weeks. There are circumstances that might require being on the crutches longer so you should definitely ask your surgeon.
