Dentures: It is different for every patient how long it takes to get use to dentures. It is important to see your dentist when you first get the dentures if you develop sore spots. This is very common and often patients will get frustrated thinking they just have to bear the pain. The adjustments are minor and i encourage patients to come in every few days at the beginning if they get sore spots.

It Varies so much: I have some patients that work great with their dentures after just a few days and others will need little adjustments for months until they feel comfortable. In extreme cases, some people simply cannot wear them and will require implants to function. It's not much different than replacing a leg or an arm really - everyone is custom made and different.

It varies.: How long it takes depends on your age, how long you've been wearing denturesand if this is your first, the quality of the dentures, how well they fit, how much jawbone exists for the denture to fit over and so on. If the problem is pain, you probably need the dentist to adjust them. If the dentures move too much it might be an adjustment needed or the ridge of bone is too small to hold a denture.

Weeks or months: It depends on each person, how good your gum ridges are and how well your dentures fit and how well they are made. Most dentures provide for at best 30% of the function of natural teeth.

Sadly there is no: Set time. Each person is unique in their ability to tolerate. Also if this is a first time denture wearer or a replacement for someone who has gotten used to a years of wearing a previous set. Some individuals needs many adjustments; others few to none. At the end of the day, i would give it at least 6 weeks to work all the kinks out, tissues to adjust to the dentures ... . Hope this helps.
