Does botox work for people with spasmodic dysphonia?

Yes: Botox injections into the vocal cords to treat spasmodic dysphonia can be effective but this is an off label treatment that should only be performed by an ENT specialist who is very experienced in this kind of treatment. The vocal cords are close to your swallowing muscles and misplacement of the product could result in swallowing difficulties. Treatments need to be repeated every 10-12 weeks.

Botox & spasmodic : Botox can be very effective for the treatment of spasmodic dysphonia. Consult with an otolaryngologist that specializes in laryngology or voice disorders to discuss if Botox is a viable treatment option and what to expect during and after treatment.
