Yes: The answer is essentially yes. It depends on how much colon is left and was your surgery done as emergency? Can it be studied with little inconvenience? But lesser the colon you have the better off you are.

Why would a mucous fistula and end ileostomy be created instead of a loop ileostomy? If in both cases colonic secretions can be released, why would a surgeon create 2 stomas instead of one?
