Are the red parts of the fifth disease rash raised and hot? can they sometimes appear as streaks in adults?

Red, not raised: It is a bright red rash that usually begins on the face. Several days later red blotches (usually lighter in color) develop, extending down to the trunk, arms, and legs. As the centers of the blotches begin to clear, the rash takes on a lacy, "net-like" appearance. It is rare in adults, but when it does occur it usually looks much the same as in children.
