What post operative advice should be instructed to a patient who has had an inferior dental nerve block?

Don't bite lip: After an inferior dental nerve block, your lower lip, tongue, and cheek may be numb for several hours. I advise patients to be careful eating, or to not eat until after feeling returns so as not to accidentally bite your numb areas.

No eating for 2 hrs: Post-operative care is important after a inferior dental nerve block to avoid unnecessary pain and complications. It is best to refrain from eating for at least 2 hours and until the anesthesia has worn off to prevent possibly injury to the tongue and lower lip.
