Infection's possible: Sometimes a corn can have a skin infection, which would require antibiotics to get rid of the infection. Diabetics, or other persons with decreased sensation or poor circulation in the feet, should have foot care done by a doctor, to try to avoid complications such as infections.

Rarely.: Corns are the term we use for a callus on the top of or between your toes. Typically, calluses do not become infected with bacteria. The exception to this is when you have athlete's foot: then any area of skin (including a callus) can become infected with a fungus. If the corn occurs between your toes and you don't keep the area dry, the corn can become infected with bacteria or fungus, or both.
