Couple of things: 1. See a podiatrist to see what is causing them. 2. Use a good moisturizing cream to soften the corn and than use a pumice stone to scrape off the tissue.

Depends on cause: Padding, change in shoes, debridement or even surgery are common treatments. See podiatrist for evaluation and treatment.

My corns hurt: Corns are formed from keratin tissue usually overlying bony prominences in the feet. They can be debrided down with sterile instruments and padding can be applied surrounding the corn to disperse abnormal pressures surrounding it. Corns must be differentiated from viral warts which are commonly mistaken for corns. See your podiatrist for advice.

Localized thick skin: Many things can cause a thickening of the skin. Causes may include: viral infections (warts), friction, pressure, repetitive trauma, and a limitation of joint motion. Some genetic conditions may also cause people to develop calluses on the hands and the feet. Treatment depends on the cause of the problem. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.
