Depends: There are many causes of shoulder pain, even after surgery. There could be a new tear or retear (which can occur in 20-50% of the time depending on size of the original tear), there could be neck problems that cause shoulder pain, and there could be arthritis or biceps problems that are totally unrelated. On rare occasions, chest and abdominal problems could even cause shoulder pain.
