Fungal infection: Toenail fungus is an infection of the bed and plate underlying the surface of the nail. You should treat toenail fungus as soon as it appears. Yellow toenails are a side effect of the presence of toenail fungus. The more discolored the nail, the further along the infection. There are many antifungal agents in the market to use from.

Probably fungual: Fungus get under the toenail when the nail plate is lifted from the underlying bed. This can occur from trauma, aggressive nail trimming or chronic use of nail polish. At the first sign of this, have your toenails evaluated by a podiatrist. There are several treatment options available to help treat, but keep in mind once treated, you have to avoid re-infection! fungus is always around.
