I have a fungus on my large toenail. The corners and very thick, crumbly and almost yellow. Is this cause for concern, besides cosmetic?

Not usually: For most patients, nail fungus is primarily a cosmetic issue. Some people, like those with diabetes, it can lead to bigger health problems. If the problem is very limited, topical treatments may still work. If the nail is affected to the very base, treatments become more involved.

Likely: A fungus but i would still get it checked. Not to scare you but I have seen melanoma in toenails. Play it safe.
