Kidney Lobulation: A traditional kidney has indention's on it's surface. Kidney lobulation are indentations are more than normal thus producing a lobulated structure and usually present from birth. If there is any infection or or there is any stone formation then there can be pain in kidney.

No cause for concern: In utero the kidneys are lobulated. In some people this lobulation continues after birth and into adulthood. This is a benign condition that does not cause symptoms. The only issue is that the lobulation can be misinterpreted on an imaging study as a mass or lesion or that the pre existing lobulations could "hide" or mask a new lesion that has developed. I see lobulated kidneys daily, no worries.
