Pay attention: Memory is closely tied to attention. Train yourself to focus on what you want to remember and ignore other interesting details. Rehearse/repeat what you have observed so it will transfer from short-term to long term memory. We have better memory for things that interest us and that we understand. Read about mnemonics. There are lots of "how to improve your memory" books that can be helpful.
