My 10 year old son has both red & skin colored bumps on his knees, toes and buttocks. he also has a severe sore throat. what should we do?

Have him seen: The combination of rash and sore throat can be many things, most of which are caused by viruses and require only supportive care. However, sometimes bacteria (including strept) can also cause this, so it may be wise to have him seen by a physician.

Possible infection: I would advise having him visit his pediatrician. They may order a strep culture to determine if he has Strep pharyngitis. Other possible causes include viral infections. Tylenol (acetaminophen) can be given for fever and pain, if you check his temperature prior to the dose, if recommended by his physician.
