How would you treat a pregnant woman of 18 weeks with sever painless hydronephrosis on her left kidney? would you let it go untreated being watched? or would you perform a percutaneous nephrostomy? or what else? thanks!

Not from pregnancy: U r probably seeing an OB dr.. Best consult with experienced urologist. Management depends upon presence and thickness of kidney cortex (functional part of kidney), may require a temporary percutaneous jj tube between bladder & kidney or nephrostomy tube (placed thru posterior abdominal wall, best by interventional radiologist) for duration of pregnancy. Need BUN & creatinine checked now.
