Nephrostomy tube: A percutaneous nephrostomy tube is indicated to drain an obstructed kidney. Decision to place a nephrostomy tube is usually selected when placement of a ureteral stent bridging the ureteral obstruction is not possible and / or one wants to minimize urine draining into the bladder. Another reason for a nephrostomy tube is to provide access to treat a very large kidney stone. www.peedoc.com @drhtay.
