Can defibrillation cause scarring?

Sort of?: Cardioversion delivers hundreds of volts across the skin and can occasionally (usually with poor patch contact) result in skin burns. These skin burns can, of course, result in scarring. This, however is extremely rare and the modern patches greatly decrease this risk. Good question!
