Why important to give early defibrillation?

Earlier the better: Defibrillation is used only in the setting of ventricular fibrillation. Vf produces no circulation. After roughly 3 minutes of vf, the patient is dead. Many studies have shown that the earlier defibrillation is applied, the better the outcome.
