Not defibrillation: Defibrillation is an unsynchronized electrical shock to the chest for ventricular fibrillation, not for tachycardia. Tachycardia is treated with drugs or synchronized cardioversion (a shock applied at the exact moment in the cardiac cycle that is safe). The shock makes all the muscle cells begin their cycle freshly at the same moment, kind of like re-booting your computer!
