What causes bad breath and how do you know if you have it?

Bacteria: Poor oral hygiene is the most common cause. Also make sure you brush the tongue. Gum disease is another reason. Sometimes what you eat has an effect. Onions garlic, etc can cause lasting odors. Sometimes gastric problems can also contribute.

Also make sure you are brushing your tongue. See your dentist regularly. Causes are many stemming from lack of oral hygiene to medical issues. Eliminate the obvious first.

3 things : Most people don't know they have bad breath-a dentist can tell you.Halitosis is usually caused by 3 things: 1) poor oral hygiene leading to gingivitis or periodontitis 2) stomach issues 3) sinus problems. Visit your dentist to have teeth and gums checked and follow their directions. If it's not your mouth, have your doctor check your stomach for acid reflux and your sinuses for chronic infection.
