Yes: Yes -- it would take a ct or MRI to detail minor abnormality in the lung tissue with more accuracy.

It may: Signs of emphysema on a cxr can be noted as increase lung size. But if you want a better screening tool, lung functions re the way to go. Your doctor can order them and there is no radiation involved...
