What could be causing left arm and hand pain that goes into my fingers?

Several things: This problem mandates a real-time (face-to-face) meeting with a doctor. A history has to be taken along with a examination as well as labs and other tests. Only after all this will your doctor be in a position to tell you what's wrong and what needs to be done to help you.

Nerve compression: Certainly nerve compression such as carpal tunnel syndrome can cause left arm pain which radiates into the fingers. However, left sided only pain is also suggestive of a cardiac condition and if you have any other symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath etc, you should seek immediate evaluation. If this is a chronic condition then evaluation by a specialist can often determine the cause.
