How long should the soreness last after a cavity filling and crown?

1-3 wks.: Drilling on a tooth can cause a hyperemia or increase in blood flow to the pulp. Clinically you will have sensitivity to cold. If this doesn't go away in a few wks. Or if it persists and if the tooth then becomes heat sensitive, you will probably need a root canal to solve the problem.

Short while: I would say that generally any pain of more than a few days duration should be reported to the treating doctor/dentist for treatment and consideration. Asometimes just a small adjustment is all thart is required and the pain can be easily relieved.

Depends : Fillings can be sensitive a couple of days depending upon how deep the cavity was and the type of material used. If still sensitive after 48 hours, contact your dentist. Your tooth should not be sensitive after a crown placement. The crown might be too 'high.'your dentist may need to adjust your bite and check the health of your tooth.
