Not necessarily: A bite guard, properly made will prevent damage from bruxism, but not change your bite. Adjustment of your bite may be necessary, but not by the bite guard.

No: The appliance itself will not change the bite. However, people that have bruxism often have muscle tension that forces their teeth to comes together in a certain way. The night guard relaxes the muscles so the teeth don't dictate where the jaw is positioned. Instead it allows the jaw to seat in the jaw socket. The bite may feel different in the morning, but can reaccommodate during the day.

Bite: Yes. If the night guard has not been checked and adjusted by the dentist, it can change the position of the opposing teeth. Anterior positioning night guards, change the bite severely.

Yes: Wearing a night guard has been known to change the bite, or how the teeth come together. It does not aways happen but there is research indicating it does and I have noticed the same thing with some of my patients. Sometimes it can be temporary and other times it can be permanent.
