A member asked:

What type of hiv test does a doctor preform on a person that got raped rna hiv test for the virus itself or normal antibody hiv test ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Likely antibody : The usual first test for HIV exposure is for antibodies to hiv. An in-office test is likely to be for antibodies. Please see this site for information and discuss the matter with your doctor. http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/testing/resources/guidelines/correctional-settings/section4.htm.
