Leukoplakia: Leukoplakia is a white patch that usually occurs in the mouth on the cheek or tongue. It usually occurs in response to an irritation, such as a rough tooth or ill-fitting denture, or to smoking or chewing tobacco. Often times, removing the irritation or quitting smoking or chew will allow the white spot to disappear. Some leukoplakia is pre-cancerous and should be biopsied.
