Chest X ray and ABG: It is a clinical diagnosis. It happens when the lung are unable to provide adequate gas exchange. Support with CPAP or mechanical ventilator maybe needed to help the lung in providing adequate gas exchange. Chest x ray will help to determine why the patient is in respiratory failure and the abg ( the arterial blood gas) will help assessing the gas exchange.
