What are the tests for respiratory distress syndrome in child?

Hx, Px,X ray: Rds is expected in premature infants or infants of diabetic mothers & emerges as increased work of breathing, need for oxygen & suggestive changes on xrays. There is some overlap of neonatal pneumonia, blood poisoning & rds symptoms & xrays so most are treated aggressively for all. Older kids can have a similar problem & the label is used when the pattern, xrays and o2 needs fit the pattern.
