Don't worry: Eye discharge can be due to many etiologies. The most serious kind are due to bacterial conjunctivitis. Typical discharge can be treated with hot compress twice a day, baby shampoo and ointment therapy. As always i'd suggest getting it checked out.

Eye discharge: Eye discharge can be from many reasons. If it is watery and a little crusty, it may be due to dry eye, blepharitis, viral conjunctivitis, or any cause of ocular surface irritation. This is treated with artificial tears and topical steroids in some cases. If the discharge is more abundant and is whitish pus in nature, it may be bacterial and may need topical antibiotics.
