Typically Not: Usually no. Arthroscopic surgery should be performed by orthopedic surgeons who have been appropriately trained. Further arthroscopic specialization is often even pursued in fellowships in sports medicine and arthroscopy. In a rare circumstance, it may be possible that a general practitioner may have sought further training, but this is unusual.
