Varies: The short answer has always been, "six months." obviously you can't mark a calendar with this number. I have personally seen patients live for way longer than this, up to several years, especially with aggressive treatment (chemo, radiation). There is no easy answer to this question. I would also remind you that after brain metastases, it's more about quality than quantity. I wish you luck.

It depends on many f: Brain metastasis have a varied survival depending on the primary source of cancer(?Breast/?Lung or melanoma are 3 of the common sites of origin) it also depends on the number of tumor nodules/masses which can be one or many. Best survival is seen with single metastasis where they can be treated with surgery or gamma knife. Such patients typically live 9-12 months; most others live for 6-9 months.
