Yes: Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory disease that leads to the destruction of joints. Osteoarthritis is wear and tear destruction of the joint. In its late stages the destruction caused by rheumatoid arthritis mimics osteoarthritis. Once the joint surfaces get rough - for what ever reason - the wear and tear component dominates.
