What is the prognosis for diabetes with cellulitis and osteomyelitis?

Osteomyelitis: Not sure i can answer that easily. Osteomyelitis is a bone infection and unfortunately these are more difficult to treat in diabetics. A lot depends on the status of your blood flow. The antibiotics need good blood flow to work so if you have good flow it generally improves the prognosis. Also, good sugar control helps.

Usually poor: Might be cured with aggressive debridement, sugar control, adequate blood supply to area, all of which must be pursued.. Yet, if in distal limb, often requires amputation to prevent infection spreading to other places in body.

Depends on treatment: If treated appropriately the prognosis can be good.
