Need more info: Mandibular tori are somewhat common. Usually they need to be removed only if they interfere with eating, talking, swallowing or the placement of a fixed or removable oral device for orthodontics or replacement of teeth. If they need to be removed expect soreness and some swelling ...Usually no complications. Please seek a consultation and/or treatment with an oral surgeon for this problem.

Tori Removed: With any surgery there can be complications so asking your doctor questions and reading the informed consent thoroughly is important. Some complications can be swelling, pain, infection, and many other possible complications which can include breakage of the mandibular jaw (very rare).

Several: Tori represent dense growths of bone. The floor of the mouth is a highly vascular area. Some possible complications may include swelling under the tongue, infections, bruising under the chin and along the neck, and possible irritation of the tissue over the tori as it is usually very thin and can be easily traumatized if care is not taken.
