Normal?: No it is not normal? Unusual - no. The temporal lobes control memory. When seizure activity involves the temporal lobes there can be shut down of memory for several hours during the post ictal state. You have features that suggest complex partial epilepsy. You may have definable epileptic foci that could be removed with surgery. A thorough neurological evaluation would be appropriate.

Seizure and memory: This is not normal, but it is possible. The longer the seizure lasts, the more likely memory loss will be prolonged. It is also important to consider the cause and origin of the seizure. It is most common for the memory to be impaired for about 10-30 minutes after a seizure.
