Congenital?: I am a borad certified pediatric dentist. Many grey teeth are a result of trauma. The child may have fallen and struck the tooth. Blodd from the pulp(nerve chamber) may have seeped into the enamel tubules. These teeth can be bonded or covered with a composite pediatric crown. If all the teeth are discolored, a more detailed medical history is in order.

What's the cause?: First we have to look at what caused the teeth to grey. Was the mother given tetracycline antibiotics during pregnancy? Most ob/gyn's know not to give that antibiotic to an expectant mother, but that is the most common cause of grey teeth. Another cause could be the types of foods that the child is eating and if their teeth are being brushed on a regular basis. The child might need a cleaning.
