What is the usual response to rehab after hip osteoarthritis?

It varies: Typically, stretching and strengthening of artificial joints have beneficial effects. However, if there are specific mechanical obstructions (such as impingement, loose bodies) stretching can actually flare up arthritic joints. One should always use common sense when engaging in a therapy program and consult with a physician if there is increasing pain and dysfunction.

Rehab: Rehab for hip arthritis can be helpful in strengthening and stretching the joint and surrounding muscles. It doesn't cure the arthritis in the joint but can help the body deal with the arthritis better.
