Physical therapy: Working with a physical therapist to increase range of motion, strength and improve gait is generally recommended. Patients usually start with a walker and progress to a cane or no assistance with time. Early weight bearing is encouraged in most cases.

Rehab: After the fracture repair either by pinning or half hip replacement, the patient begins to work with physical therapy to begin weight bearing, walking with an assistive device, usually a walker. If a hip replacement was done, it is very important to learn the "precautions" given by the surgeon which will dictate what movement should not be done while the surgery heals. Rehab usually 3 months.
