Education needed!: You do not need key tone strips. You do, however, need a doctor who will teach you or send you to a diabetes education class. Telling a new diabetic to "keep an eye on their sugar" give you no idea how to do that. Diabetes education is cover by insurance and you can repeat the class every 5 years or so. If you understand it: All of the glucometers are quite good, but you must know what is normal vs abnormal values and why u r testing. I suggest consulting a diabetic educator or reconsult with your doc to learn about diabetes. These strips/testings are meant to guide you with controlling your diet/food consumptions to maintain a good sugar level. Having diabetes is tough! fllow-up with doc regularly. Good luck.
