Not necessarily: He may have had some bleeding into the area after the cath or groin exposure for the AAA stent. If the wound is healing well and isn't red or draining this should resolve. If there is a lot of pain, redness or drainage from the wound you should call the vascular surgeon.

Hematoma: It is very common to have a bruise and small collection of blood at the groin site. This can become a rubbery firm nodule after a week or so. It should not be painful, warm, or red. If you have a concern your doctor will want to see it.
