Good Question: Best time to check your BP is early am, so buy a machne and check your BP and let your doctor know if it's more than 140/90 or 130/80 if you are a diabetic. If you smoke or drink excess alcohol and have a family history of high BP you will have it most likely.

HBP: Hello. A few simple rules about high bp. BP should always be measured at rest for a few minutes with arm elevated at heart level to be accurate. Digital machines are typically a little off so best to use a manual one if possible. High BP by definition is > 140/90. It takes 2 readings at least a week or so apart to imply a diagnosis. Typically a doc will recommend lifestyle changes before meds.
