No: Most recover spontaneously even 6 months out. Isometric exercises to strengthen the erector spinae muscles (stationary bike, one hour 3x a week, swimming, rowing machine, yoga) and keep your body mass index (bmi) at 30 max. Transforaminal nerve root block may stop the inflammation/pain. Any motor loss (foot drop or plantarflexor weakness) or numbness should trigger a trip to a neurosurgeon.

May be not : Transforaminal epidural steroid injection may be a good first step.

Pinched Nerve: Sounds like you have a pinched nerve in your back. I would suggest seeing a pain/spine specialist to evaluate you further to evaluate what level and what can be done to treat you. There are interventional treatments besides medications and surgeries that might reduce or eliminate the pain altogether.
