Rarely: For the most part, the answer is no. There are certain risk factors that can be passed in generations, such as higher chance of having high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes. All of these can increase the chance of having a stroke. Causes of stroke that are truly hereditary are rare and often present early in life (fabry's disease, ehler-danlos syndrome, marphan's syndrome etc).
