TIA’s stand for transient ischemic (brain) attacks caused by reversible reduction blood flow to the brain. They often serve as a warning before a stroke and must be handled urgently

A TIA is a brief vascular event lasting about 20 minutes, and if imaging is done at time, area of ischemia can be seen. A "mini-stroke", or so-called lacunar infarct can be detected and perhaps reversed with TPA if done in timely fashion. Both varieties herald future additional such events, and must be treated prophylactically. Your neurologist can design such a program.
