What does it mean if my spinal tap , for ms came back negative?

NONSPECIFIC: Although spinal fluid analysis can help confirm the diagnosis, it is sometimes misleading. The best data involves oligoclonal bands, and these may be absent in 50% of early ms pts, and 25% in more advanced cases. If you do have ms, absence suggests more benign course. Suggest followup mri's over next few months, as changes can help diagnose. Meds are best started asap, follow doc's advice.
