Internal eye: There is no relationship between systemic blood pressure and the pressure in the eyes. If your eye pressure is elevated, someone must have measured it. If you are at risk, then medication will have been started. The causes are all internal, mostly unknown but sometimes related to other eye diseases, and aspects of the anatomy of the eye.

High eye pressure: Ocular hypertension is an increased pressure of the eyes outside of normal range. It is not related to blood pressure, but instead is elevated because fluid is made internally within the eye faster than is can drain. Thus, the pressure builds up. Glaucoma is optic nerve damage from the usually increased pressure. Increased eye pressure can run in families, but the cause is usually not known.
