Wallet biopsy: Sorry, didn't mean to be so cynical. 1st, there is big difference btwn normal ("good enough") & optimal (goal if you actually had event) so consider getting all your numbers to level which you would aim if you'd already had a heart attack. After that, door is wide open. How much do you want to spend? Coronary artery calcium score? Carotid intima media thickness? Lppla2? Ldl particle size & number?

Maybe: Normal & optimal aren't the same. I order a crp, homocysteine, &/or lipid NMR if my patient looks normal but has a parent, sibling, or many family members with an early event. Holidays are great for getting specifics about your family's health. Include diabetes, any cancers, blood or thyroid disorders, unexplained or early deaths. Then take that info to your doctor and decide if you need more.
