Pain: Really need more information..It could be anything in that area, and all have slightly different triggers, relievers, and features. Like pleurisy ( hurts when you breathe) or percarditis ( can be positional ) or musculoskeletal.. Let me know more specifics and I am happy to help you narrow down the possibilities. Dr. P.

Upper back: If the pain is in the upper back a cervical spine MRI and thoracic spine MRI are more helpful. An EMG may lead you in the right direction. See your neurologist.
