Yes: Core exercises are among some of the best for strengthening the back and abdomen. I would recommend going to a physical therapist to learn some of the more common ones. You may also want to go to your favorite search engine and type in "core exercises" to see an example of these.

Ask your therapist : To show you so great core strengthening exercises. Example by lying on on your back then bending your knees. Tighten your belly muscles until you can press the small of your back flat against the floor. Hold the press for about 5 seconds and repeat up to 10 times. Lumbar stabilization programs are also great. Yoga is also good. Make sure not to continue any exercise that causes increased pain.
