Months: It can last months. However it depends on your diet (coffee and tea stain your teeth), oral hygiene and if you smoke.

Bleaching: It is different for everyone. Our teeth darken naturally with age. When you bleach your teeth, it bleaches the entire tooth, not just what the bleach touches. I believe all the things that stain our teeth (surface staining ) like caffeine, smoking , red wines, can be cleaned off by the hygienist. There are no rules to shade, it is a matter of what makes you happy when you look in the mirror.
